Network Administrator job description

Job brief

We are seeking a technically minded, dynamic, and detail orientated Network administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of network processes, setup, and security, and will be able to provide overall network management to the business. The main focus of the role will be to ensure the effective day-to-day maintenance and running of the company LAN/WAN networks.

Responsibilities

• Identify the company’s system requirements and install all required network hardware and software as required.
• Ensure all required upgrades and repairs to networks are completed in a timely manner whilst ensuring that systems and operating correctly and to their full potential.
• Constantly maintain network and computer system security.
• Evaluate, analyze, and optimize network and system performance.
• Manage the network’s users by adding users to a network along with assigning and updating security permissions within the network.
• Mentor and train users in the use of hardware and software.
• Identify, analyze,  and solve problems as they arise when a user or the monitoring system alerts that a problem has arisen.

Requirements

• Associates or above in Information Technology, Computer Science, Math or other related fields, or equivalent work experience and education
• Network+ certification would be an advantage
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze large amounts of data and identify patterns and trends.
• Good problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting abilities
• Excellent communication skills and ability to conduct inter-department work within the company
• Effective multitasking abilities with excellent work prioritization abilities
• Knowledge of network switches
• Able to work as part of a team on large projects and upgrades
• Able to manage and take responsibility for their own workload
• Enjoys working independently when required and has a focused mindset
• Good understanding of general computer programs and operating systems
