Wind Turbine Technician job description

Job brief

We are seeking a Wind Turbine Technician to engineer wind-powered system processes such as installation or maintenance. The ideal candidate would be professional, experienced, and adventurous.

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain and install wind-powered systems on-site.
• Inspect the exterior and physical integrity of wind turbine towers.
• Troubleshoot problems (hydraulic, variable speed, etc.)
• Service underground transmission systems, wind field substations, or fiber optic sensing and control systems.
• Comply with local environmental and health laws.
• Perform maintenance in accordance with OEM practices.
• Perform data collection from wind plants.
• Replace worn or malfunctioning components.
• Collect turbine data for testing or research and analysis.
• Install wind turbine towers on land or at sea.
• Fit electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment.
• Test turbine blades and control systems.
• Run safety checks on electrical substations and cables.

Requirements

• College degree or vocational school certificate
• 5+ years of technical experience in the wind power industry
• Need to be physically fit and have good stamina, as this is a physically demanding job that involves climbing and heavy lifting
• Able to climb 80+ meter steel towers daily
• Able to lift up to 30 kgs worth of equipment
• Willing to work overtime and on short notice
• Technically minded and have an aptitude for mechanical systems and processes
• Consistently meet standards and have strong attention to detail to maintain safety compliance
