Job brief
We are seeking a tax consultant who will help our clients deal with setting up trusts, managing taxes, and understanding tax implications of births, deaths, divorces, marriages, and other life events, among other responsibilities. You will prepare tax returns for clients, or provide information and advice to help clients fill out their own tax returns. You will answer client questions, help them prepare for future tax situations, and analyze information to ensure compliance with government regulations.
Responsibilities
- Discussing with clients their financial information and taxable income during meetings.
- Determining any possible deductions to which a client may be eligible.
- Researching tax laws.
- Collaborating with customers to develop strategies to reduce tax liabilities.
- Communicating with clients to clarify tax-related concerns.
- Preparing tax filings.
- Ensuring that clients comply with their tax responsibilities.
- Prepares tax returns for individuals, organizations, and businesses using significant knowledge of tax rules and regulations.
- Using adequate strategies to minimize taxation by taking advantage of tax deductions and credits.
- Helping with complicated tax issues, like those involving rental properties and capital gains.
- Minimizing tax obligations.
- Providing guidance on important life events and their tax implications, like inheritance, marriage, divorce, and childbirth.
- Determining how much clients owe in taxes and how much clients overpaid in taxes by using a computer or adding machines to calculate the correct amounts.
- Gathering relevant financials and tax information from clients through interview Information such as clients' taxable income, allowances, and deductible expenses.
Requirements
- BSC/BA in Accounting and Finance, Business, and other related fields
- Proven work experience as a Tax consultant or similar role
- Excellent attention to detail
- Possess the ability to operate complex database systems
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, and the capacity to clearly explain complex details to a variety of teams
- Must possess financial management skills
- Knowledge of applicable tax laws is essential
- Must be able to use tax preparation software and financial analysis software
- Must be able to use accounting software such as Intuit QuickBooks, email software such as Microsoft Outlook, and spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel
