Special education teacher job brief
We are looking for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students who have learning challenges and will be responsible for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. They will work collaboratively with other team members to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and ensure student success.
Special education teacher responsibilities
- Design and implement effective IEPs tailored to individual student needs.
- Evaluate student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and students to customize education plans.
- Create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Use assistive technologies and other resources to support student growth and development.
- Provide instructional support in both individual and group settings.
- Supervise and support paraeducators and aides.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records regarding student progress.
- Attend and participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Must hold a valid Special Education teaching license
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Special Education Teacher
- Experience designing and implementing effective IEPs
- In-depth knowledge of special education laws and regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other team members
- Skilled in adapting and modifying instructional strategies to accommodate individual student needs
- Knowledge of assistive technology and other resources to support student growth and development
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills

This position is full-time and requires working with students of various ages and disabilities.
