Job brief
We are on the lookout for a driven, focused, and dynamic Shift Manager to join our growing team! The ideal candidate will have a wealth of experience in the hotel and accommodation industry with prior supervisory or management roles. The main focus of the role is to provide reports on the performance of the shifts you are overseeing and deal with issues and concerns that arise during the shift.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with managers within the hotel to ascertain the requirements and particular activities taking place during the shift.
- Monitor the team’s performance from the shift and provide reports and notes to other management personnel.
- Delegate and organize the team to ensure efficient and productive work is completed to ensure the department functions are completed seamlessly and with outstanding service levels.
- Order supplies, and manage inventory and stock rotation for required items such as PPE, key cards, and others.
- Liaise with the guests to ensure the guest experience has met their expectations and gain feedback from guests about their stay.
- Ensure the check-in and check-out functions run smoothly and oversee the issuing of cards and the hotel housekeeping staff.
- Ensure that the reception and operations team are performing to their best ability by completing regular performance reviews and addressing any issues that arise.
- Liaise with and utilize external vendors where required, for example, agencies, to provide extra staff when required.
- Collaborate with the HR department to hire and train new staff as needed.
Requirements
- Degree in Business Administration or related field. Or, 2 years of experience in a similar role and equivalent education
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Confident communicator, with experience managing people from different backgrounds
- Great attention to detail
- Excellent leadership abilities
- Good problem-solving abilities
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Working knowledge of booking systems and switchboards
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to set and achieve KPIs
