Senior Surveyor job description

Job brief

We are seeking a detail-focused, knowledgeable, and professional Senior Surveyor to join our team. The ideal fit for the role will have a strong background in surveying and a strong knowledge of local land laws and regulations. The key focus of the position is to survey land in various locations for building or excavating. 

Responsibilities

• Measure land features, such as depth and shape, using reference points.
• Research and examine previous land records and verify data from previous records.
• Prepare maps and land reports, and provide reports and findings to clients or potential contractors.
• Create and log records of survey results
• Measure land boundaries.
• Make recommendations on the suitability of land for the desired build or project.
• Purchase and maintain required equipment for effectively completing surveys.
• Provide guidance and support to field staff or junior surveyors and estimators.
• Provide site visits to clients and potential land buyers or developers to show them the land and explain the key points from the survey.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or similar field
• Demonstrated experience in a similar role
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, and diagrams
• Ability to effectively manage projects
• Strong analytical skills, with keen attention to detail
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety guidelines
• Good report writing skills
• Strong manual dexterity
• Good problem-solving abilities
• Ability to prioritize own time and workload
