Job brief
We are seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist who is specialized in delivering evidence-based cardio-respiratory interventions. Their practice is based on an in-depth knowledge of critical care gained through education and clinical experience. As the Respiratory Therapist, your role is to provide airway management, initiating and maintaining ventilation for all patient populations, including neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in any environment. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to provide excellent patient-centered care in a dynamic environment where he/she will be given the opportunity to deliver care with compassion, excellence, and courage.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective diagnostic and therapeutic support in the treatment and management of patients with cardio-respiratory compromise.
- Conduct full pulmonary function testing, including bronchial-challenge testing, in a designated Lab setting.
- Develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor the progress of patients.
- Provide airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation (conventional, high-frequency oscillation, jet ventilation, and non-invasive), intubation/extubation, nitric oxide delivery, arterial line insertion, and resuscitation.
- Collaborate effectively with the health care team to develop and implement a patient care plan and provide education and support to all involved.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of current critical care required
- Demonstrable competencies and advanced clinical knowledge in the respiratory care practices to the neonatal/pediatric/adult population
- Diploma from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
- Bachelor’s degree in science or health-related field preferred
- A sincere passion for exceptional patient care and relationship building with an astute ability to lead, coach, and inspire those around you
- Professionalism with attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative care model with all members of the health care team
- Specialty training in other applied areas would be an asset – e.g., research, leadership, and quality improvement
