Remote Care Optometrist job description

Job brief

We are seeking a professional and knowledgeable Remote Care Optometrist to join our team! The ideal fit for the role will have a strong background in vision and sight and be personable and patient-focused! The focus of the role is to test patients’ vision, ensure they are seeing correctly with the visual aids they currently have, and complete thorough eye exams to assist with the diagnosis and intervention of eye diseases and sight loss problems.

Responsibilities

• Consult with patients remotely to understand their current vision and if it has improved or declined.
• Carry out remote eye tests to ascertain the level of assistance the patient needs.
• Complete various lens tests to ensure the patient is getting the best possible vision through their lenses.
• Complete eye exams and provide education on good eye health.
• Assist with the diagnosis of eye conditions or diseases and make referrals to other healthcare providers when possible.
• Consult with patients to find the best solution to improve their vision, going through various options such as laser eye surgery, glasses, contact lenses, etc.
• Explain the benefits of wearing their visual aids and how it will improve their overall eye health in the long term,
• Maintain and update patient files as needed.
• Treat patients from all backgrounds and ages.

Requirements

• Degree in Optometry 
• Strong working knowledge of ocular health
• Demonstrated knowledge of various eye and sight conditions
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to notice small changes
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to form relationships with people from various backgrounds and ages
• Demonstrated knowledge of using various optometry equipment
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent administrative and record-keeping abilities
