Job brief
We are seeking a dynamic, leadership-driven, and service-focused Regional Aviation Safety Manager to join our team! The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety with a solid understanding of risk assessments, safe working procedures, and operational goals. The focus of the role is to manage the health and safety within the region assigned to ensure that compliance is met at all times, whilst improving safety initiatives and training across the teams.
Responsibilities
- Ascertain safety requirements on each site.
- Build and develop an effective library of health and safety documentation, including but not limited to – Risk assessments, safe working procedures, Standard operating procedures, Incident reporting initiatives, Training initiatives, and Toolbox Talks.
- Ensure that safety protocol is being followed by all staff members, and regularly audit each site to ensure that process is being adhered to.
- Conduct site visits to ascertain risks and issues that may arise.
- Constantly develop new initiatives relating to safety to ensure team members are up-to-date with processes and rules.
- Ensure that an effective reporting system for near misses and incidents is in place.
- Brief management of new processes as they are implemented.
- Develop and implement all safety processes for the region.
- Keep active logs and records of incidents and near misses.
- Ensure that management and teams are adhering to machinery servicing schedules and that the machinery and equipment are inspected by the third-party insurer.
- Ensure all machinery and equipment have valid and current insurance.
- Lead by example, following protocol at all times.
- Provide excellent leadership to the ground team, supervisors, and managers and truly support the health and safety initiative.
Requirements
- High School education or above, further education in Safety and Environment would be an advantage
- 2 years of experience within the aviation industry with a focus on safety is highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience in enforcing and managing safety initiatives
- Strong knowledge of the development of risk assessments, safe working procedures, and SOP’s
- Strong understanding of audit processes
- Well-developed understanding of safety initiatives
- Excellent leadership abilities
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Firm but fair attitude
- Genuine passion for safety
- Excellent computer skills
- Great problem-solving skills with the ability to delegate to a large team
