Job brief
We are seeking a professional and knowledgeable Psychiatrist to join our team! The ideal fit for the role will have a strong educational background in Psychiatry and a strong background in diagnosing and supporting people with psychiatric disorders. The focus of the role is to assess, diagnose and treat patients suffering from psychiatric disorders and make relevant referrals when required to ensure the safety of the patient and their families.
Responsibilities
- Consult with patients and complete investigative questioning to determine the psychiatric disorder or issue they are living with.
- Assess, monitor, and diagnose disorders and explain findings to patients and their families.
- Prescribe treatment where applicable, such as medication, therapy, or other treatments.
- Complete regular therapy sessions with the patients.
- Develop a care and treatment plan for each patient, set goals and milestones, and monitor their improvement whilst making regular updates to their files.
- Keep active notes of all interactions with patients and take action if concerning behavior is exhibited, such as threats of suicide or murder.
- Alert relevant healthcare professionals such as mental institutions if clients need a residency referral.
- Work in line with patient confidentiality guidelines and safeguard best practices at all times.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or above
- License/certification to practice as a psychiatrist in the region you reside.
- Minimum of two years intern or externship with a focus on Psychology or mental health and wellbeing
- A keen eye for detail
- Excellent time keeping and organizational skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident in observing and assessing behavior over extended periods of time
- Compassionate and caring in nature
