Job brief
We are seeking a service-focused, professional, and care-oriented Psychiatric Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate must possess a compassionate nature and enjoy providing care and support to persons with mental health issues, with experience working in a similar role. The focus of the role will be to aid the Psychiatrists on their daily work schedules, and assist patients with day to living, whilst monitoring and reporting on their conditions, and improvements or deteriorations where required.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care for each patient with mental health conditions.
- Provide therapeutic care as directed by the Psychiatrist.
- Assist patients with their day-to-day lives, and activities, promoting socialization.
- Monitor patient conditions and provide regular updates and reports on improvements or declines in any one person’s condition.
- Ensure the working and/or living environment of the patients is kept clean, sterile, and in accordance with health guidelines and regulations.
- Provide a listening ear and engage with patients.
- Assist patients with taking their medication on time and in the correct amount.
- Keep patient charts up to date and ensure reports or notes are submitted to the Psychiatrist in a timely manner.
- Assist all patients with any reasonable requests they have.
Requirements
- Associate degree or above in Psychology, Social Services/Welfare or related field
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a health aid role, preferably within the mental health sector
- Demonstrated understanding of industry guidelines and best practices
- Able to effectively write reports, fill out the information on charts and give feedback
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Adept with using computer programs such as Microsoft Office and EMR systems
- Patient and kind in nature
- Good problem-solving skills
- Great attention to detail
- Knowledge of safeguarding regulations and their action processes
