Job Brief
Are you a creative and talented production designer who can bring any vision to life? Do you have a passion for designing sets, props, costumes and lighting for film, TV or theater? If so, we want you to join our team!
As a production designer, you will work closely with the director, producer and other crew members to create the overall look and feel of the project. You will be responsible for researching, sketching, budgeting and overseeing the construction and decoration of the sets. You will also collaborate with the costume, makeup and special effects departments to ensure consistency and quality.
Responsibilities
- Develop and present design concepts that align with the project’s vision and budget.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of the art department, including set designers, carpenters, painters, prop makers and buyers.
- Hire and manage contractors and vendors for the production design needs.
- Research and source materials, furniture, props and equipment for the sets.
- Ensure that the sets are safe, functional and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor and control the production design expenses and report to the producer.
- Communicate and collaborate with other departments such as cinematography, sound, editing and post-production.
- Attend rehearsals, meetings and location scouts as required.
- Keep up to date with the latest trends and technologies in production design.
Requirements
- A degree in production design, art direction, fine arts or a related field
- A portfolio of previous work that showcases your skills and style
- Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills
- A keen eye for detail, color and composition
- Knowledge of various design software and tools
- The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- A flexible and adaptable attitude
