Primary School Teacher (Elementary) job description

Job brief

We are seeking a patient, honest, and kind Primary School Teacher to join our team! The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for teaching younger children and have previous experience in a teaching or teaching assistant role. The focus of the role is to make learning fun and interactive for our younger students whilst ensuring they learn in line with the curriculum and governing body.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop lesson plans for each lesson.
• Teach classes to up to 30 young children, ranging from the ages of 4 years old to 12 years old.
• Use the resources available to ensure that learning is fun whilst keeping in line with the curriculum.
• Prepare the classroom for the day, including getting out books, paint, coloring pencils, learning material, and any other materials as required.
• Teach a variety of lessons ranging from basic math, English, science and also IT, art, and home technology.
• Engage with children during lesson time and listen to their ideas and dreams.
• Ensure that you engage the class for feedback on a regular basis.
• Safeguard children by keeping a keen eye on them, and ensure that anything untoward is reported to the head teacher or parents.
• Help children to learn to resolve disputes effectively, by monitoring and managing their behavior towards each other.
• Assist children in learning and understanding a healthy lifestyle and right from wrong.
• Report any serious bullying allegations to the principal.
• Keep notes of each child’s progress and write weekly or monthly reports on their progress for their parents.
• Host and attend parent-teacher days, or evenings to meet with parents and provide detailed reports on their performance, and address any concerns.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in either English, Math, Science, or general education
• Teaching certificate
• Must be able to pass an enhanced background check
• Patient, kind, and friendly in nature
• Excellent communication skills & problem-solving skills
• Good report writing skills
• Proficient with computer programs such as Microsoft Office
