Job brief
We are seeking a professional, knowledgeable, and patient-focused Podiatrist to join our team. The ideal fit for the role will have a strong background in treating patients with injuries or problems with their lower extremities, including feet and ankles, and legs. The focus of the role is to provide appropriate patient care, aid patients in their recovery, make assessments, and perform surgeries when needed to help patients recover from injury or live a better quality of life with their condition.
Responsibilities
- Consult with patients to understand the issues they are facing with their lower extremities.
- Conduct physical assessments of patients.
- Make professional diagnoses and consult with the patient regarding steps for treatment and improvement, either therapy, surgery, or other forms of treatment.
- Create care and treatment plans for patients.
- Prepare patients for surgery by discussing the length, risk, and type of surgery they need.
- Perform surgery on feet, ankles, or lower limbs.
- Assist patients with recovery from surgery and make recommendations on suitable activities or therapy.
- Keep patient records up to date on the EMR system.
- Make referrals to other healthcare professionals when needed.
- Work in line with patient confidentiality guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelors’ undergraduate degree in biology or related field
- Doctorate with podiatry as a focused, plus four years internship, externship, or residency
- Two years of hands-on experience in a similar role
- Certified by the relevant authority in the region you reside
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with good interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate and build relationships with various patient types from various backgrounds, including older and younger patients
- Excellent eye for detail with good analytical skills
- Able to observe and monitor for extended periods of time if needed
- Strong problem-solving skills
