Payroll clerk responsibilities
- Process and manage the payroll of employees in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations regarding payroll.
- Responsible for the submission of payroll taxes, including withholding tax and social security.
- Compiling, analyzing, and preparing reports on payroll data for management.
- Answer employee inquiries about payroll and resolve any issues.
- Maintain accurate employee files and records of salaries, benefits, and deductions.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll regulations and ensure the implementation of relevant policy changes.
- Collaborate with finance and human resources teams to ensure payroll is processed accurately and efficiently.
Requirements
- An associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred
- At least three years of experience in payroll processing and management
- Knowledge of state and federal payroll regulations
- Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks within a tight deadline
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
