Job brief
We are seeking a caring, chatty, and personable Patient Sitter to join our team. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a love for talking and listening to patients and the stories they have to tell. You will provide companionship to sick patients, monitor their vital signs, and alert nurses to any changes in condition.
Responsibilities
- Sit with patients as assigned and keep them company.
- Chat to patients about their day or general subjects they have an interest in.
- Listen to patients' stories or things they like to talk about.
- Provide emotional support to patients you are assigned to, being compassionate and caring at all times.
- Monitor patients' vital signs on a regular basis.
- Alert healthcare professionals to any sudden changes in health.
- Call for nurses in case of emergency or for help and intervention
- Ensure the patient is monitored and cared for without distraction.
Requirements
- High school diploma or above
- Vocational training in basic first aid, CRP, and BSL would be an advantage
- Two years’ experience in a care role, either as a direct support professional, medical assistant, or similar, with a variety of people ranging from children to seniors
- Caring, compassionate and kind in nature
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read information from hospital monitors, such as blood pressure and heart rate.
- Responsible with great attention to detail
- Good problem-solving skills
