Ensuring patient care goes smoothly, the Patient Service Representative's primary responsibilities are scheduling patient appointments and making reminder calls. Helping inform patients about delays or wait times to ensure they are seen on time and updating their information at every visit ensures patients are informed, updated, and assisted whenever they need support. Patient Service Representatives utilize various skills and tactics to determine patient needs including but not limited to interviewing them and listening to their questions and concerns. The Patient Service Representative's ultimate goal is to ensure the patient's needs are met by liaising with key stakeholders, medical staff, and family members.
Responsibilities
- Greet and direct patients to examination rooms.
- Schedule patient appointments and offer reminder calls.
- Inform patients about delays as well as waiting times.
- Attain patients' addresses, insurance information, contact details, and medical histories.
- Update and verify patient information at every visit.
- Assist patients in filling out consent forms, patient history forms, and payment contract forms as needed.
- Receive and process payments for medical services provided.
- Review patient accounts, identify delinquent accounts, and collect overdue payments as needed.
- Address and direct patient complaints or inquiries to the appropriate medical staff member.
- Follow up with patients to make sure their inquiry or complaint has been satisfactorily resolved.
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing paperwork, etc., as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Experience working as a patient representative
- Knowledge of medical terms and practices
- Intermediate user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access)
- Professional demeanor
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Meticulous with strong attention to detail
