Job Brief
We are looking for a service-focused and knowledgeable Pastry Chef to join our team! Our ideal candidate will have a long career in pastry and desserts and be experienced in not only preparing pastries in the kitchen but also developing and experimenting with potential new desserts and pastries. The focus of the role is to develop and implement new pastry menus and desserts to be served, along with preparing tasty and aesthetically pleasing pastries.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with management and executives to research and experiment with new menu options.
- Create new pastries for trial in the restaurant.
- Teach and train other pastry chefs and kitchen staff on how to properly prepare and present desserts and pastries.
- Ensure the kitchen is clean and following food hygiene regulations.
- Order and take inventory of stock and ingredients as required.
- Liaise with customers and gain feedback on the food quality.
- Update and change menus when needed.
- Make decisions on menu options, changes, and service delivery.
- Coordinate with suppliers to negotiate high-quality food at reasonable prices.
- Create appealing desserts and pastries in line with the quality expectations of the kitchen management.
Requirements
- High school Diploma or above
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar role
- Food badge/certification for your district
- Strong knowledge of Food hygiene and safety regulations
- Ability to communicate with customers and other staff members
- Ability to use kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, hotplates, cookers, etc
- Physically able to be on your feet for long periods of time
- Willing to work late or unsociable hours
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships
- Good listening skills, with high levels of attention to detail
- Ability to multitask
