We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and professional Nurse Manager to join our team! The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hands-on nursing in a hospital setting and possess excellent leadership qualities. The focus of the role will be to lead and manage the team of nurses on your ward, assisting with problem-solving, responding to emergencies, and ensuring the department runs smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with HR to be involved in the hiring process for new nurses and provide training to new hires.
- Ensure adequate cover by developing a suitable staff rota.
- Ensure continuous education and training for all nurses on your team.
- Delegate tasks effectively to nurses and student nurses on your team.
- Complete audit and quality checks of work completed by nurses.
- Deal with any issues that arise with regard to the quality of care or work within the team.
- Address all staff issues such as performance, absence, or personal issues and conduct regular staff reviews and development plans.
- Assist nurses with emergencies and provide basic lifesaving treatment when needed.
- Monitor referrals that are made by nurses in the department to ensure suitability for patient needs.
- Develop and provide reports to senior healthcare management on nurse performance, department productivity, budgeting, etc.
- Ensure patient confidentiality guidelines are always followed.
- Identify needs for training within the department and liaise with the relevant department to ensure relevant training is offered and completed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Nurse
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a supervisory or management role within the healthcare industry
- Required Licence to practice as a nurse in the country/state you reside
- Demonstrated ability to use medical equipment
- Excellent interpersonal skills with good relationship-building skills
- Keen eye for detail, even very small ones
- Strong leadership and effective delegation skills
- Highly organized and able to prioritize own workload
- Knowledge of patient confidentiality guidelines
