Job brief
We are seeking a caring, kind, and professional NICU Nurse to join our team! The ideal candidate should display a wealth of experience in nursing and be adept at caring for very unwell infants and providing information and support to their parents and families. The role's main focus will be to provide round-the-clock, dedicated care to newborn infants born with illnesses or premature infants who require incubation and support to grow.
Responsibilities
- Familiarize yourself with the infant you are caring for and understand their current illness or condition.
- Ensure that charts are checked for updates and kept up to date throughout the shift.
- Provide all nursing care to infants, including insertion of IV’s/Catheters/administration of medication/cleaning of wounds and feeding tubes, etc.
- Ensure the correct medication in the correct amount is given.
- Monitor infants' vital signs, heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure and ensure stability.
- Ensure the correct temperature is maintained for incubators etc.
- Ensure all medical equipment and consumables are on hand throughout the shift.
- Provide updates to the infant’s parents and wider family members on the improvements of their infant.
- Ensure that any progress or deterioration is noted/acted upon.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide basic life-saving techniques.
- Work in line with safeguarding and patient confidentiality guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a Nursing field or a related medical field
- A relevant license and/or certification to practice as a nurse from the country/state you reside in
- Able to work in a fast-paced, pressurized environment
- Able to work as part of a team, with effective delegation skills when needed
- Physically able to work on your feet for extended periods of time
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Highly organized and focused
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
