Movie Makeup Artist job description

Job brief

We are looking for a creative and talented movie makeup artist to join our team. As a movie makeup artist, you will be responsible for creating stunning, realistic makeup looks for movie characters to portray their roles in the best way possible. You will work closely with the director and the rest of the creative team to bring their vision to life on-screen.

Responsibilities

• Design and create makeup looks that accurately reflect the characters' personalities and appearances according to the script and the director's vision.
• Work with the costume designers to ensure consistent character looks and to match makeup with wardrobe.
• Ensure timely completion of makeup for actors before filming. To accomplish this, it may be required that you work extended hours, weekends, or travel to on-site where filming is taking place if needed.
• Communicate with actors to identify any potential allergies or concerns and select the best application techniques for each actor's skin tone and sensitivity.
• Manage and maintain all makeup equipment, tools, and supplies.
• Attend rehearsals and touch up actors' makeup throughout the filming process.
• Work collaboratively with the movie production team to solve problems creatively and efficiently.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a professional makeup artist in movies for at least three years
• Excellent knowledge of makeup and skincare techniques, as well as a thorough understanding of the latest makeup trends
• Ability to analyze and interpret characters to select and apply makeup appropriately and creatively
• Prior experience and a strong knowledge of special effects makeup and prosthetics
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Flexibility and availability to work for extended hours, weekends, or travel, as required
• Degree or certification in makeup artistry from an accredited institution or any related Field
