Job brief
We are seeking a professional, personable, and empathetic Mental Health Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a wealth of experience working within the mental health sector and be adept with industry standards and best practices in providing therapy and treatment to aid people in recovery. The role's key focus will be to assess, plan, and execute effective therapy for each patient based on a thorough diagnosis and care plans.
Responsibilities
- Meet with patients who have been referred for treatment.
- Review their referral notes and any diagnosis made by other healthcare professionals.
- Speak to and understand the issues the patients are facing.
- Develop suitable care plans, action plans, and therapy schedules with the patients.
- Provide regular therapy sessions to individuals to assist with overcoming mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
- Provide therapy alongside medication to help manage and relieve symptoms of the disorders for patients.
- Create patient files, and update them accordingly with plans, progress, and achieve goals and milestones.
- Work in line with patients' confidentiality guidelines and data protection laws.
- Attend workshops and conferences to stay posted on industry standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or above in Psychology
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a role related to mental health
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships
- Good listening skills
- Able to listen to sometimes disturbing feelings and thoughts
- Confident in offering advice and speaking about difficult topics
- Highly organized and consistently able to prioritize own workload
- Personable, kind, and compassionate in nature
