We are seeking a Medical Scribe to help with our expanding patient workload. The Medical Scribe will be responsible for providing documentation support to physicians and technicians. Responsibilities
- Transcribe medical dictation when required and edit speech-recognized draft documents.
- Clarify dictation that is unclear or incomplete, seek assistance, when necessary.
- Use reference materials appropriately and efficiently to facilitate the accuracy, clarity, and completeness of reports including extensive use of internet searches.
- Meet quality and productivity standards (85-100 min/day, quality score of 98 or more).
- Verify patient information for report accuracy and completeness.
- Demonstrate understanding of policies and procedures and organize and prioritize assigned work to meet established standards, turnaround times, and commitments.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Completion of a recognized and reputable medical transcription course with the experience of at least two years transcribing multi-specialty dictation
- Document Specialist certification in healthcare is an asset
- Experience with medical report transcription in acute care settings
- Proficient keyboarding skills
- Notable knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with diseases, anatomy, abbreviations, acronyms, medical/surgical procedures, pharmacology, lab values
- Basic understanding of patient confidentiality and medical privacy laws
- Good written and oral communications skills
- Experience editing speech-recognized draft documents requiring proficient proofreading and editing skills, including excellent listening skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently under minimal supervision and in a team environment
