Job brief
We are seeking a highly skilled licensed physician to join our team as a Medical Examiner to conduct medicolegal death investigations and gather and analyze data, and complete cause-of-death reporting.
Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations into non-natural deaths and certain natural deaths that are sudden or unexpected, or those that occur in certain institutional settings.
- Interact with the families of those who have passed away, and provide them with appropriate information about the conduct and outcome of each investigation.
- Collaborate with a variety of investigative stakeholders, including forensic and other pathologists, forensic scientists, law enforcement personnel, and other investigative agencies.
- Complete investigation reports being shared with families, law enforcement personnel, the criminal justice system, and other relevant parties.
- Participate in initial and ongoing education in a death investigation.
Requirements
- Board-certified medical physician in good standing
- Licensed or eligible for independent practice
- Extensive experience in the medicine (primary care or a medical or surgical specialty)
- A demonstrated understanding of pathophysiology and toxicology
- An analytical mind and an aptitude for problem-solving and logical thinking
- Practice within Best Practice Guidelines and other directives
- Demonstrated sense of empathy and understanding of grief
