Mail handler job brief
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented mail handler to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sorting and delivering incoming and outgoing mail, as well as ensuring that all mail is processed accurately and on time. This position requires a commitment to providing outstanding customer service and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Mail handler responsibilities
- Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and parcels.
- Ensure that all mail is accurately processed and delivered according to schedule.
- Verify and distribute internal correspondence and notices to appropriate departments.
- Oversee the proper handling and disposal of bulk mail and confidential documents.
- Respond to inquiries from customers and coworkers regarding mail delivery and processing.
- Maintain a clean and organized mailroom and ensure the proper functioning of equipment and supplies.
- Record and log all received and dispatched mail, and maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment as needed.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required; Associates Degree preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in mail handling or related field
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working with various mail processing equipment, such as postage meters, letter folding machines, and scales
- Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and email
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
