Mail carrier job brief
We are seeking a reliable and responsible mail carrier to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, sorting, and delivering mail to individuals, businesses, and other establishments. The ideal candidate should have excellent time-management skills and the ability to work independently in all weather conditions.
Mail carrier responsibilities
- Collect mail from the post office or central location and sort it based on the delivery route and zip codes.
- Deliver mail to businesses, individuals, and other establishments within the assigned delivery route.
- Ensure that mail and packages are delivered accurately and on time.
- Collect outgoing mail from buildings, homes, and businesses.
- Scan and track incoming and outgoing mail and packages using electronic devices and maintain records of deliveries.
- Maintain and regularly inspect mail delivery vehicle and keep it vehicle clean and well-maintained.
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints and provide excellent customer service.
- Verify addresses and confirm delivery requirements.
Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions
- Must be physically fit as the job requires carrying heavy parcels and mail bags
- Must have good time-management skills and the ability to work independently
- Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Should be able to read and memorize street names and routes
- Knowledge of safety and traffic regulations is essential
- Must be capable of following instructions and paying attention to details
- Prior experience working as a mail carrier, or similar position is an added advantage
