Job Brief
We are looking for a service-focused and knowledgeable Line Cook to join our team! Our ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a kitchen, preparing and cooking food, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. The focus of the role is to work directly with all kitchen staff to cook food as requested by the head chef.
Responsibilities
- Take orders from the head chef on what food is being worked on for dinner/lunch service.
- Assist with the preparation of ingredients, including peeling, chopping, cutting, and grating ingredients as needed.
- Assist with the cooking of food in line with instructions and order requirements.
- Use various kitchen tools such as knives, peelers, mallets, and ovens/hobs to prepare food.
- Keep the kitchen and work area in a clean and sanitary condition, following food safety guidelines.
- Keep on top of orders and food prep, ensuring seamless meal delivery to the diners.
- Assist with washing utensils, and cleaning surfaces, floors, etc.
- Ensure leftover food is properly stored and dated in the correct area.
- Follow food hygiene and safety guidelines at all times.
Requirements
- High school Diploma or above
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar role
- Food badge/certification for your district
- Strong knowledge of Food hygiene and safety regulations
- Ability to communicate with customers and other staff members
- Ability to use kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, hotplates, cookers, etc
- Physically able to be on your feet for long periods of time
- Willing to work late or unsociable hours
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships
- Good listening skills, with high levels of attention to detail
- Ability to multitask
