Job brief
Representing clients, businesses, and government agencies, lawyers counsel on legal issues as well as disputes. They are both advisors and advocates, advising on legal matters. As advocates, attorneys present evidence and argue in support of their client(s) at a criminal or civil trial. As advisors, attorneys advise on the legal rights of their clients and recommend courses of action specific to business and/or personal matters. All attorneys apply the laws to the specific circumstances that their clients face based on their individual research and interpretation of the law.
Responsibilities
- Counsel and represent clients in private legal matters in both the courts and before government agencies.
- Correspond with peers, judges, clients, and any other parties involved with a respective case.
- Facilitate research and analysis of legal difficulties.
- Interpret rulings, laws, and regulations for both businesses and individuals.
- Present their client’s or others’ facts verbally or in writing.
- Represent and argue on behalf of their clients.
- Execute and file legal documentation including lawsuits, wills, appeals, deeds, contracts, and other legal documents.
- Oversee the work of support staff
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Juris Doctor (JD) Degree
- Successfully passed the Bar Examine in the respective state or country
- Detail-oriented high achiever
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Exceptional analytical skills and deductive reasoning
- Strong research and fact-finding skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Professional demeanor with discretion regarding sensitive information
- Superb public speaking skills
