IT Manager job description

Job brief

We are seeking an experienced, people-focused, and operationally minded IT Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience within an IT role, preferably as a supervisor or team lead, prior management experience is beneficial. The focus of the role will be to provide high-quality management to the IT department, to include people management, integration, and delivery of operationally viable solutions to software and hardware and increased productivity within the department.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Information Technology department along with the computer and networks systems.
• Plan and organize IT and electronic data operations.
• Manage the IT team by conducting effective recruitment drives where required, ensuring ongoing training and development, and conducting monthly or quarterly appraisals and personal development plans.
• Design and develop the systems, policies, and procedures for the department in addition to implanting them and ensuring their coordination throughout the department.
• Ensure compliance guidance is adhered to regarding data, network access, and backup systems.
• Consider user needs while ensuring system functionality and contribute to the organization’s goals and objectives, whilst always enforcing company policy.
• Identify potential problems and develop strategic plans and resolutions in a timely manner.
• Investigate, analyze, and audit systems in use and assess the outcomes of the investigations.
• Effectively preserve assets, IT security, data security and control the structure.
• Take responsibility for the annual budget, whilst justifying expenditure and controlling the annual spend, along with advising on cost-saving initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, Technical Engineering or related field, or equivalent education and work experience
• Demonstrated experience in a management or supervisory role
• Good knowledge of technical management, with the ability to analyze information
• In-depth knowledge of computer hardware and software systems
• Expertise in data center management and data governance
• Experience working with computer networks, effective network admin skills, and proficiency with network installation, management, upgrades, and maintenance
• Effective with time management and work prioritization
• Able to work effectively under pressure to agreed time frames and deadlines
• Good project management abilities with experience using project management software
• Clear and concise written communication
• Experience leading and delegating to a team
• Excellent interpersonal skills
