Job brief
We are in search of an organized and friendly Hospital Registrar to collect patient information, validate documents, and maintain records. Hospital Registrars should be professional at all times and keep patient records confidential.
Responsibilities
- Greet and receive patients professionally.
- Digitize previous patient’s data.
- Validate and verify medical insurance plans of patients.
- File documents regarding patient records.
- Responsible for the registration of patients, scheduling of patient appointments, verification of insurance, entering of demographic data, collection of copayments, etc.
- Answer phone calls and redirect them to the correct party.
- Update patient accounts with registration, insurance, demographic, scheduling, and billing data.
- Record the patient’s data and collect patient payment.
- Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint), medical software, and type 40+WPM.
- Work shifts as directed, demonstrating flexibility with vacation holiday coverage and to support the operations of a 24/7 department.
- Maintain knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations and policies, procedures and standards.
- Actively participate in creating and implementing improvements to achieve clinical, satisfaction and/or efficiency outcomes.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Prior administrative experience especially in healthcare would be advantageous
- Demonstrate the ability to accurately and independently solve problems
- Able to multitask efficiently and effectively (process patients while answering phone calls and attending to many other duties at once)
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
- Great interpersonal skills
- Friendly and approachable character
- Able to work overtime and long hours
- Strong attention to detail
- Computer literate
- Microsoft Office/Suite proficient (Word, Excel, etc)
