Job brief
We are seeking a friendly, outgoing, and knowledgeable Hair Salon Assistant Manager to join our team! The ideal fit for the role will have a strong background in hairdressing with previous supervisory experience. The focus of the role is to assist the Salon Manager with all aspects of keeping the salon running smoothly, including inventory control, stock ordering, attending to customer queries and complaints, along with training new team members.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the salon manager, hairdressers, and assistants to help develop an effective rota that ensures continuous staffing of the salon.
- Assist management with inventory control and ordering of new supplies.
- Collaborate with suppliers to obtain new and exciting products first.
- Assist the hairdressing team with requests for time off and take calls from team members regarding attendance and sickness.
- Be a key holder for the salon, open and close when needed, and be on call for emergencies, such as a fire or break-in, in the absence of the salon manager.
- Take in deliveries of stock, check inventory, and check invoices for payment before obtaining authorization from the manager.
- Assist with the recruitment, training, and onboarding of new team members.
- Support the hairdressing team with general duties during busy periods or when other team members are absent.
- Assist with payroll while the manager is not present.
- Arrange staff training and hygiene courses when needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Vocational training in hairdressing or hair styling or 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a managerial or supervisory role in a similar industry
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and relationship-building skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong leadership skills with excellent problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Hairdressing industry and products
- Excellent customer service skills
- Confident in training and mentoring other team members
