Job brief
We are looking for a skilled Medical Technologist to perform laboratory testing and analysis. The candidate will be responsible for conducting various diagnostic tests on patient samples, recording and interpreting results, and maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate for this position should be able to work independently, have excellent attention to detail, and possess sound judgment to interpret testing results accurately.
Responsibilities
- Perform medical laboratory tests on patient samples to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
- Record and interpret laboratory test data for use in patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory results and equipment maintenance.
- Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment such as microscopes, chemistry analyzers, and cell counters.
- Analyze the results of quality control measures and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Identify abnormal test results and report such findings to the appropriate parties.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder laboratory supplies when necessary.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure that all patient samples and laboratory equipment are handled appropriately.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field
- Certification as a Medical Technologist by a nationally recognized certification authority (i.e., ASCP, AMT, AAB, etc.)
- Commendable experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret laboratory results accurately
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, and calibration
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate detailed test results to physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and procedures
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
