Film Editor job description

Job brief

We are seeking a Film Editor to assess hours of film and assemble the footage according to the Director’s vision within the project deadline.

Responsibilities

• Read scripts to understand the vision of the director and writers.
• Evaluate footage and select suitable scenes according to the script.
• Trim segments from the full footage.
• Making adjustments as requested by the director.
• Collaborate with sound editors, sound effects editors, and cinematographers.
• Visit set locations during filming.
• Fine-tune and reorder content to ensure smooth running and logical sequencing of the film.
• Create an assembly edit of the film and determine the exact cutting for the next and final stages.
• Oversee the progress and quality of video and audio editing and engineering.
• Writing voiceover/commentary.
• Suggest or select music.
• Complete assignments within strict timelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in a film and production field
• 2+ years of film editing experience
• Incredible knowledge of professional editing tools and software
• Familiar with camera equipment
• Great concentration skills and patient personality
• Time management and organizational skills
• Critical mind and a keen eye for detail
• Passion in film and video editing
• Ability to work under pressure
