Engineering Senior Mechanical Engineer job description

Job brief

We are seeking a detail-focused, knowledgeable and professional Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team! The ideal fit for the role will have a strong background in mechanics and a passion for fixing, developing, and maintaining high-output machinery! The focus of the role is to design potential new machinery, as well as repair and service existing machinery in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate existing machinery, and design, implement and test modifications to the machinery or design new machinery.
• Design and build new machineries such as combustible engines, generators, or heavy plant machinery such as 360 cranes, loading shovels, and industrial shredders.
• Set up an effective maintenance and service schedule for existing machinery.
• Diagnose faults and inspect current machinery to initiate repairs.
• Conduct repairs on machinery.
• Ensure machinery is serviced in line with schedules and keep a log of services completed on existing machinery.
• Liaise with external vendors to order parts for machines.
• Train and mentor junior or apprentice engineers.
• Work in line with health and safety guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Demonstrated experience in a similar role
• Good dexterity and ability to work with your hands
• Strong analytical skills, with keen attention to detail
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Able to work to agreed deadlines and timescales
• Good knowledge of engines, moving parts, and tools
• Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety guidelines
• Good problem-solving abilities
• Ability to prioritize own time and workload
