Job brief
We are seeking a patient, honest, and kind Health Educator to join our school community. The ideal candidate will have a wealth of experience in nutrition and health education, as well as being a great communicator, who is patient and caring. The focus of the role will be to educate children at our school on how they can live a healthy, balanced lifestyle, consisting of diet, exercise, and other related subjects.
Responsibilities
- Work with all children within the school to either teach health classes or have one on one appointments with students to discuss their health and wellbeing.
- Regularly weigh students, and speak about their diets to monitor their weight and ensure they stay healthy.
- Educate children on good food, and foods that should be taken in moderation.
- Assist students with finding sports and exercise they love, along with helping them to get into extracurricular activities pertaining to sports and active time.
- Pay special attention to and care for any children who are severely under or overweight.
- Engage with parents where required, to offer advice and encouragement.
- Provide nutritional information to parents, students, and teachers.
- Write and provide reports on children’s health and well-being progress.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or related field
- Previous experience in a dietitian or nutritionist role would be an advantage
- Good listening skills
- Must pass an enhanced background check if one is required
- Patient, kind, and friendly in nature
- Excellent communication skills & problem-solving skills
- Good report writing skills
- Proficient with computer programs such as Microsoft Office
