In addition to working cooperatively with other law enforcement agencies, you should be able to obtain and examine the evidence, interview witnesses and suspects, and conduct investigations. Throughout the course of the investigation, you will be expected to work with victims, witnesses, and other stakeholders, thus you will also need to have good interpersonal and communication skills.
You will have the chance to work on a range of criminal cases in this position, including but not limited to those involving murder, robbery, fraud, and drug-related charges. Additionally, it will be your responsibility to keep abreast of new investigative methods and technology and use them as needed in your work. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough investigations of criminal cases, including analyzing evidence, interviewing witnesses and suspects, and gathering intelligence.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, such as the police department and the FBI, to solve crimes.
- Provide expert testimony in court and work with prosecutors to build strong cases against suspects.
- Keep accurate records of all investigative activities and prepare detailed reports for superiors.
- Stay up-to-date with new investigative techniques and technologies and incorporate them into your work as necessary.
- Work closely with other detectives and investigators to coordinate efforts and share information.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all investigative activities and protect the integrity of evidence at all times.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field
- Proven experience as a detective or criminal investigator
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with investigative techniques and technologies
- Willingness to work irregular hours and be on-call as needed
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and protect the integrity of evidence at all times
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
