Job brief
We are seeking a detail-focused, knowledgeable and professional Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal fit for the role will have a strong background in engineering with a focus on the design of systems. The key focus of the position will be to evaluate and improve the company’s equipment and systems, along with designing processes and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze existing systems and processes and make suggestions on improvements and streamlining.
- Assess current equipment and machinery in place, and develop designs and plans to create new processes, equipment, or systems.
- Establish company needs from the system, considering output, cost, and quality when designing equipment or systems.
- Make recommendations on how new systems or designs could reduce production costs.
- Work with the engineering team to make the design of equipment and process a reality.
- Manage install projects and ensure that projects run on time, within budget, and efficiently.
- Work in line with health and safety guidelines.
- Work towards KPIs and objectives set out by executives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering or related field
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Ability to read, understand, and execute technical drawings and diagrams
- Ability to effectively manage projects
- Strong analytical skills, with keen attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment
- Good report writing skills
- Able to work to agreed deadlines and timescales
- Good problem-solving abilities
- Ability to prioritize own time and workload
