Job Brief
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced critical care nurse to join our team. As a critical care nurse, you will be responsible for providing care to patients who are critically ill or injured.
Critical care nurses must be able to work well under pressure and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
They should have excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
Critical care nurses should also be compassionate and empathetic, as they will be working with patients who are often in pain or distress.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, including assessment, medication administration, monitoring, and documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Perform complex clinical procedures, such as mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and continuous renal replacement therapy.
- Respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient condition, communicating with the healthcare team as needed.
- Ensure patient and family members are informed about their care, treatment options, and progress.
- Educate patients and families about disease prevention and management, including lifestyle modifications and medication management.
- Adhere to all relevant standards, regulations, and policies, including infection control protocols and patient confidentiality.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training, maintaining current knowledge and skills.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in nursing (BSN or ASN) from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care nursing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Excellent clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and challenging environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) or related specialty
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare technology
- Experience working in a teaching hospital or academic medical center
Physical Demands
- Standing, walking, and moving throughout the workday
- Lifting and positioning patients, as needed
- Pushing and pulling heavy equipment, such as ventilators and infusion pumps
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment for extended periods of time
