Criminal Lawyer job brief
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Criminal Lawyer to join our legal team. As a Criminal Lawyer, you will be responsible for representing clients in criminal cases and defending their rights in a court of law.
Criminal Lawyer responsibilities
- Represent clients in criminal cases from arraignment to trial.
- Conduct legal research and analyze various legal documents to determine the best course of action for clients.
- Advise clients on legal matters related to their cases.
- Negotiate plea deals with the prosecution on behalf of clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Attend court appearances, hearings, and trials on behalf of clients.
- Prepare and submit legal documents such as motions, briefs, and pleadings.
- Work closely with law enforcement agencies, court officials, and other legal professionals.
- Participate in professional development opportunities, such as continuing legal education courses and workshops.
Requirements
- A degree in law from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction where the position is based
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in criminal law practice
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- In-depth knowledge of criminal law and court procedures
- Ability to manage large caseloads and work well under pressure
- Excellent research and writing skills
