Job brief
We are seeking a professional, empathic, and patient-focused Counseling Psychologist to join our team! The ideal candidate will display a broad and varied range of experience with mental counseling conditions and be adept at working in various settings, including hospitals, doctors’ offices, and various other facilities. The role's key focus is to provide counseling to a wide range of patients with varying issues. This ranges from depression and anxiety, to eating disorders, body dysmorphia, and even negative life events and bereavement.
Responsibilities
- Consult with patients and make initial assessments of their conditions.
- Create and develop continuing care plans and action plans for their improvement.
- Update and amend care plans when required.
- Conduct regular counseling sessions with patients.
- Set milestones, goals, and improvement steps for each patient.
- Listen and talk to patients and keep notes of each session.
- Build a case file for each patient and ensure notes, action plans, improvements, and deteriorations are all recorded in their file.
- Make recommendations for patients to be referred to other service providers for additional help.
- Discharge patients when treatment is completed and the patient is on the right path to success.
- Work with patients from different backgrounds, cultures, and diversities, ensuring inclusivity.
- Conduct all work in line with safeguarding practices and patient confidentiality guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Psychology or a relevant field
- Relevant license from the country/state you practice in to practice as a therapist/counselor
- Minimum of two years experience within an internship or externship or in a similar role
- Excellent listening skills
- Able to listen and take notes simultaneously
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Adept with building trusting relationships, excellent interpersonal skills
- Solid knowledge of data protection and patient confidentiality guidelines
- Thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and action plans relating to safeguarding
