Job brief
We are seeking a safety-focused, dynamic and adaptable Co-Pilot to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated portion of experience in the aviation industry and a keen interest in flying. The focus of the role will be to assist with safely navigating the plane and assisting the captain with all other needs such as weather reporting, flying the plane during breaks, and assisting with safety checks.
Responsibilities
- Assist the captain with flying the plane safely and on the right course.
- Ensure that all radio equipment in the cockpit is tested and functional before take-off.
- Complete pre-flight safety checks alongside the captain.
- Ensure that all equipment is checked and cleared before flights.
- Research and provide detailed weather reports for the flight path.
- Assist with making announcements to passengers regarding flight time remaining, and current aircraft location and notify them of potential turbulence.
- Fly the aircraft safely during the captain's break, or if the captain becomes incapacitated for any reason.
- Direct cabin crew where required.
- Ensure that emergency protocol is followed.
- Provide regular briefing and updates to cabin crew.
Requirements
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate is a minimum requirement
- At least 1,000 flying hours of supervised training
- A degree in aerospace technology or engineering would be an advantage
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to use radio equipment and communication equipment
- Excellent eye for detail
- Well-developed problem-solving skills
- Great leadership abilities
- Able to work in a pressurized environment
- Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to navigate complex equipment
