Job brief
We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and professional Charge Nurse to join our team! The ideal candidate should demonstrate previous experience in the management and supervision of care and other nurses in a hospital setting. The focus of the role is to oversee, manage and prioritize care for patients, while leading a team of nursing professionals.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to ensure effective patient care delivery
- Monitor the condition of patients under your charge, recognize changes in patient condition, and implement appropriate interventions.
- Ensure continuity of care and patient safety.
- Conform to all regulatory guidelines, ensure cooperation with the facility’s policies and procedures, and maintain compliance with the hospital's standards of practice and ethics.
- Deescalate potentially volatile situations involving patients or co-workers or a combination of both.
- Delegate and lead unit and patient responsibilities to nursing staff based on each staff member’s level of competence and skills.
- Report and note concerns about patient care, the work environment, or co-worker performance to management personnel in a timely manner.
- Educate and train nursing staff regarding the use of all equipment and supplies, safe patient handling techniques, safety procedures, and infection control protocol.
- Liaise and collaborate with physicians to ensure that all information is readily available to patient care providers as needed.
- Record nursing notes, chart admission, and discharge dates, and participate in unit staffing, code rounds, and morbidity and mortality conferences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Nursing
- Relevant and up-to-date Nursing License as required by the country/state you reside in
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a hands-on nurse
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a supervising or managerial nursing role
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong leadership and delegation skills
- Demonstrated ability to build strong patient and co-worker relationships
- Proficient with the use of all medical equipment
- Demonstrated knowledge of infection control procedures
- Able to train, mentor, and educate other nursing professionals
