Job brief
We are seeking a diverse, professional, and dynamic Caregiver to join our team. The ideal fit for the role will have a strong background in caregiving, be friendly, kind, compassionate, and able to pre-empt patient needs. The key focus of the position is to provide in-home or in-facility care to patients who have life-limiting conditions due to age or medical conditions.
Responsibilities
- Assist the clients with aspects of their daily lives that they may struggle with. This could include helping them to prepare healthy, balanced meals, complete clothes shopping or grocery shopping, supporting them with attending events or functions, and assisting with personal grooming, dressing, and light cleaning.
- Listen to the client and chat with them to ensure they receive social interaction during your visits.
- Listen to all clients' wants and needs to ensure you are providing a valuable service during your visits.
- Assist the client with making medical appointments, collecting medication, and attending appointments if needed.
- Assist the client with going to the store to buy things they need if required.
- Ensure the client is regularly eating, showering, and having clothes changed.
- Coordinate with nurses or visiting nurses to ensure that medication is correct and that any wound care that is required is completed.
- Any other duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or above
- 2 years of previous experience in a DSP/PCA role
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Physically capable of standing and moving around for long periods of time
- A keen eye for detail
- Good problem-solving skills
- Kind and compassionate in nature
