Job brief
We are seeking a detail-focused, knowledgeable, and professional Auto Mechanic to join our team! The ideal fit for the role will have a strong background in automotive repairs and be confident in working on a variety of vehicle types, makes, and models. The focus of the role is to provide high-quality diagnosis, inspection, and repair of automotive vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and diagnose mechanical and electrical problems with various vehicle types.
- Use diagnostic equipment and manual examinations to determine the cause of faults.
- Use various equipment, such as ramps, air tools, and hand tools, to inspect vehicles, using those tools to obtain access to otherwise restricted areas by removing parts or covers as required.
- Advise customers on the issues with their vehicles and provide cost estimates.
- Liaise with suppliers to ascertain prices on parts and calculate estimated labor time.
- Repair engines, chassis, and other parts of vehicles as required by fitting new parts, welding, cleaning, or replacing broken parts.
- Carry out servicing on vehicles, such as oil changes, filter changes, air conditioning re-gassing, and replacing worn parts such as wiper blades or faulting bulbs and brake pads.
- Provide reports on the vehicle after repair.
- Educate vehicle operators on preventative maintenance, including servicing.
Requirements
- High school diploma or above
- Vocational training in either apprenticeship, vocational certification in auto mechanics, or time-served experience in the absence of a certificate
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Good dexterity and ability to work with your hands
- Strong analytical skills, with keen attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Able to work to agreed deadlines and timescales
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety guidelines
- Good problem-solving abilities
- Ability to prioritize own time and workload
