Job brief
We are seeking a leadership-focused, responsible, and trustworthy Assistant Bank Manager to join our team! The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in commercial banking, preferably within a lead or supervisory role. The key focus of the role will be to support the bank manager with day-to-day tasks to ensure that the branch operates to the highest standard.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with the bank manager to ascertain the priority workloads on any given day.
- Lead shifts of cashiers, tellers, and other banking personnel in the absence of the Bank Manager.
- Open and close the branch of the bank in the absence of the Bank Manager.
- Assist with curating the rota, and schedule for various team members to ensure enough cover is always in place.
- Assist with hiring and interviewing of new team members and provide training and guidance to new hires.
- Ensure that any queries are resolved, whether from staff members or customers.
- Collaborate with Cashiers and other banking staff to help resolve technical and customer-related problems.
- De-escalate and calm angry or upset clients down, and provide suitable resolutions for clients within the bank.
- Be a keyholder to the safe room or safe deposit box room.
- Regularly attend emergency training and keep up to date with safety procedures.
- Conduct emergency drills alongside the bank manager and provide continuous training and development to the banking team.
- Ensure correct reconciliation is completed on a daily or weekly basis as requested.
- Ensure all monies are safely stored in the safe area.
Requirements
- Bachelors’ Degree or above in Finance, Business Finance, Accounting, or related field or vocational qualification and relevant experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a banking role, preferably as a team lead, shift lead, or supervisor
- Demonstrated knowledge of banking operations and procedures
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good Leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and train team members
- Adept with using general banking equipment such as computers, tills, and safes
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good computer skills, including Excel and Outlook
- Highly organized and able to work under pressure to specific deadlines
- Great Math skills
