Job brief
We are seeking a patient-focused, kind, and caring Anaesthesiologist to join our team! The ideal candidate for this specific role will have a strong background in anesthesia and be adept at following strict protocol in putting patients to sleep, both in planned and emergency surgery settings. The focus of the role is to assist surgeons and doctors with providing anesthesia to their patients, liaising with patients, educating them on anesthesia, its risks and benefits, and ensuring they are aware of how to look after themselves post anesthesia.
Responsibilities
- Complete preoperative examinations of patients, including their height, weight, and other medical conditions or diseases they may have.
- Make an assessment of the patient’s overall health for the procedure.
- Discuss risks and benefits of anesthesia with the patient and their families.
- Consult with surgeons and doctors to ascertain the length of surgery and how long a patient needs to be under anesthesia.
- Consult with patients pre- and post-anesthesia.
- Be on hand and alert to assist with any emergencies or problems during anesthesia.
- Put patients under anesthesia and monitor their vital signs during and after anesthesia.
- Work in line with patient confidentiality and safeguarding guidelines.
Requirements
- Doctorate of Medicine in Anaesthesiology
- Four years of internship or externship or equivalent medical school training
- Two years’ experience in a similar role or assisting an anaesthesiologist
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical equipment and drugs and how to safely administer them
- Strong team working abilities
- Strong attention to detail skills
- Kind, caring, and professional in nature
- Able to give clear and concise instructions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
