Accounting Analyst job description

Job brief

We are seeking a detail-focused, analytically-minded Accounting Analyst to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounting and financial and data analytics. The focus of the role will be to assist the CFO and other executives with the analysis and reporting of the business accounts and identifying trends and abnormalities in the data provided.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the accounting and finance teams to obtain and request required data to analyze.
• Liaise with CFOs and other financial executives to understand the business objectives and improvements in finance they want to achieve.
• Download, Sort and analyze large volumes of accounting data.
• Present reports of findings once data has been analyzed.
• Notify management and executives of any and all suspicious or worrying information found when analyzing data.
• Use various accounting software and data analytics software to identify patterns, trends, and inconsistencies in the financial data.
• Understand the finance department’s goals, objectives, and improvements.
• Work as part of a broader team to ensure the financial stability of the company.
• Prepare data, reports, and information required for forensic investigators where required.
• Assist with quarterly, yearly, and monthly reconciliation, including AR and AP reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or above in Business, Math, Finance, IT or related field, or equivalent education and experience
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a data analyst or accounting role
• Excellent analytical abilities with the confidence to analyze large and continuous amounts of data
• Excellent Math skills
• Confident in the use of software programs relating to finance
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Great problem-solving abilities
• Able to work as part of a team
• Excellent report skills
• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize own workload
