Phone interviews are useful during the earliest phases of hiring. They provide an opportunity to reject people who lack the required abilities for a certain post. There is no requirement that you include questions that demand a lot of thought from the candidate. Complex interview questions (such as situational and behavioral) are better suited for a face-to-face conversation.
Questions
- What prompted you to pursue this career path?
- Are you currently employed? If so, how much notice must you provide your company before resigning?
- During any of your prior employment, have you used [X] software?
- Please describe your present position and any related experience.
- Which management style do you interact with the most effectively?
- What position do you generally hold in a team setting?
- Describe a time when you discovered a work-related issue and how you resolved it.
- Are you having interviews with other businesses?
- "Describe yourself to me." Alternatively, "Take me through your resume."
- You left or are quitting your previous position for what reason?
- Have you got any queries for me?
Conclusion
Make a list of questions and double-check their clarity before a phone interview. If it would be useful, write an interview script. Spending time elaborating on your inquiries is not what you want to accomplish. Attempt to keep the conversation going.
