A UI/UX designer is someone who designs and enhances the user interface and experience of digital products, such as websites and mobile applications or apps.

Thus, if you're looking for a candidate for this position, look out for talents that have a deep understanding of front-end development, graphic design, and user-centered design principles.

Additionally, they also need to be able to work well with cross-functional teams, such as those made up of product managers, engineers, and marketers.

  • How can the demands of the user and the commercial objectives of the product be balanced?
  • What kind of design software do you employ, and what are your advantages?
  • Can you give us an instance of a project in which you had to come up with a creative solution? What strategy did you employ?
  • How do you stay up to date with the best practices and current design trends?
  • What talents in front-end development do you have?

Behavioral or situational questions:

  • Explain an occasion when you got criticism for a design. What were your tactics?
  • How do you explain design decisions to stakeholders who are not designers?
  • Can you describe a project in which you had to collaborate with a challenging team member or stakeholder? How did you respond to the circumstance?
  • Explain a situation when you had to compromise on a design in order to meet a deadline or stay within a certain price range.
  • When you are working on several projects at once, how do you prioritize and organize your design tasks?
  • Can you describe a situation where you had to modify your design in response to user testing results?

General questions:

  • Why do you want to become a UI/UX designer?
  • How do you go about working with a new group or business?
  • Why are you most proud of that particular design project?
  • What distinguishes you from other UI/UX designers, in your opinion?
  • How can you stay organized and efficiently manage your time?
  • Describe a website or mobile app that you believe in having excellent user experience design and explain why.
