When assessing Case Managers, look for someone who has sound knowledge of legislation relevant to cases, demonstrated experience in a customer service environment, and is outcome-focused with the ability to manage competing demands. Candidates that do not have a background in health care and lack organizational skills should be avoided.
Advocacy for clients is the primary function of case management. Achieving quality outcomes, committing to the appropriate use of resources, and empowering clients in a manner that is supportive and objective are key. Hence, when you’re hiring a Case Manager, you need to make sure they have relevant experience for the role.
